About the Course

This workshop is designed to teach participants an intro and basics of applying research proven, exposure-based therapeutic strategies for working with those with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

  • Participants will receive an overview of how OCD can present, how to conduct assessment on symptoms, and framework to apply ERP as treatment modality

  • Participants will learn the framework of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and why other treatment approaches such as coping skills and relaxation not only often don’t work, but might actually increase or maintain anxiety

  • Attendees will enhance their understanding of ERP practice as evidenced based treatment for OCD. They will also increase awareness on how to apply specific exposure and response prevention (ERP) help to support the treatment of OCD behaviorally using evidence based treatments

Stephanie Pruefer, LCPC is a licensed therapist and supervisor at The OCD & Anxiety Center with locations in Oak Brook and Orland Park in Illinois. She specializes in the treatment of children, teens, and adults with anxiety, OCD, and related disorders. Stephanie is skilled in providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy including Exposure and Response Prevention, ACT, and DBT. She includes family members and supports heavily in the treatment process and specializes in providing treatment both in the office and outside the office, wherever anxiety happens.
