  • Attendees will be able to identify the difference between guilt and shame and the relationship to substance use.

  • Attendees will gain awareness on how to assess the role of attachment styles in fostering shame.

  • Attendees will identify what self-compassion is and how it can be applied to alleviate shame. Barriers to practicing self-compassion will be discussed and ways to intervene will be presented to help individuals develop a self-compassion practice.

Justin Wolfe

Justin Wolfe is the Director of Clinical Services at Footprints to Recovery in Chicago, IL. Justin completed his Master’s in Counseling with a Specialization in Rehabilitation from Adler University, and his addictions training at the College of DuPage. Justin has worked in the behavioral health field for over a decade primarily focusing his work on individuals impacted by the disease of addiction and Co-Occurring Disorders. Justin has actively collaborated in program development for multiple organizations to develop evidence-based curriculums. Justin has presented at the ASAM conference on the topic of Utilizing Contingency Management within Addiction Treatment. In his time outside of the facility, Justin works in private practice serving both adolescents and adults, while also making time to coach his children’s sports teams.
