What You will Learn

This experiential seminar will introduce yogic breath practices for clinicians to integrate into therapeutic sessions for specific effects, including relaxation and calming, energizing, or balancing. The benefits of pranayama (yogic breathwork) are manifold, and include increased mental clarity, mood stabilization, transformation of stress- inducing patterns, and creation of a sense of inner peace and calm.

  • Identify the benefits and therapeutic power of various types of yogic breathing practices.

  • Experience and gain insight in how yogic breathing techniques can strengthen emotional regulation, helping to manage stress and stress-related conditions, anxiety, and depression, promoting positive mood states and a sense of well-being.

Shabad Kaur Khalsa, LCPC, LMFT, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT specializes in offering alternative methods of psychotherapeutic treatment for adult individuals and couples through integrating the teachings of yoga and meditation. Shabad Kaur has over 35 years of clinical experience as an expressive arts therapist and certified yoga therapist, and maintains a private practice in Evanston and Chicago called Inner Outlook. She is the co-founder of Spirit Rising Yoga, and she directs and teaches yoga classes, workshops, teacher trainings, and an annual women’s yoga retreat.
